Paul Scanlon

Paul Scanlon, founder of Game On Advisory, is a Chartered Accountant with a decade of experience in public practice accounting firms. From 2010 to 2019, he held senior executive positions at the Pakenham Racing Club as it experienced unprecedented growth for a Club of its standing. This included the relocation of its racecourse to a greenfield master planned site at a cost of $100m and the development and opening of a new gaming venue in the growth suburb of Officer. Paul played the lead role in ensuring that the Club maximized the synergies and economies of scales from operating three hospitality venues within close proximity to each other.

With a passion for ensuring businesses operate in an efficient, yet sustainable, manner he is now offering his knowledge and skills to hospitality venues who cannot afford or attract internal resources with such advanced financial and business acumen.

For the last 6 years, he has been providing management consultancy services to a select group of hospitality clients. These include Warragul Country Club, Club Hotel Warragul, Trios Sports Club and Sandown Greyhound Racing Club.

Paul is an experienced Board member and current board roles include with the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club, Greyhounds Entertainment and Queensland Greyhound Racing Club. Paul is a recent graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors program (GAICD).

Brett Morgan

Brett, having previously worked alongside Paul, has recently joined the team at Game On Advisory. He works with businesses to turn complex financial and operational data into clear, practical insights. Drawing on over 20 years of experience in finance and systems, he has developed Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that help management teams and business owners see their performance at a glance and make better decisions.

Brett has worked across industries including hospitality, manufacturing, mining, software, and health, and is valued for his ability to simplify reporting, improve systems, and make information more accessible to decision-makers.

 Alongside dashboards, Brett has also supported businesses through system implementation and improvements, helping them move from manual, time-consuming processes to more streamlined and reliable tools.

 His focus is always on providing the right information, in the right format, at the right time – enabling his clients to run their businesses with confidence.

Services

Game on Advisory can be engaged on a project basis or on a recurring basis, depending on the requirement of the client. Services will be tailored to each client’s needs assessing their available internal resources and the size and complexity of their operations.

Project Based

 An engagement under a project basis may be appropriate for:

  • An operational review which may include the interviewing of key personnel to understand the efficiency and effectiveness of the current management structure, processes and practices and a report and recommendation on a revised operational structure and enhanced processes and practices

  • Review of accounting and operating software systems with a report and recommendation on maximising the automation and integration of this software, or the implementation of new software systems that would allow for increased automation and integration

  • Identification of recurring costs being incurred that could be extinguished or reduced

Fractional CFO

Game on Advisory can act in a fractional CFO capacity which is likely to include:

  • Preparation and presentation of a monthly Finance Report to the Board and senior management

  • Assisting the internal or external bookkeeper with the financial reporting requirements of the venue

  • Regular discussions with senior management regarding the performance of the venue including labour ratios, COGs, supplier agreement, capital expenditure and funding requirements

  • Assistance with preparation of the annual budget and the preparation or rolling short and long term cash flow forecasts

 These are generally performed via an agreed monthly fixed fee.

Recent projects

  • A review of the organisational structure, particularly the finance function, at Fairview Village in Warragul commissioned by their Board

  • A review of the organisational structure of the Warragul Industrials Football and Netball Club

  • Assisting Sandown Greyhound Racing Club with their buyout of the other shareholder (50%) in Greyhounds Entertainment

  • Long service leave coverage for a Finance Manager

These can be offered under a fixed fee or hourly rate model.

Paul initially joined Radford and Son as CFO and transitioned into the CEO role and held that position for around two years whereupon he and his family relocated to Queensland.

In more recent times Paul has reduced his daily involvement whilst he pursues other interests. He is an inaugural member of the Radfords Advisory Board and continues to be an active unbiased member spending around 15 to 20 hours per month on governance and other issues that pertain to Radfords.
